To: Willow Springs High School 2010 Graduating Seniors

This year the Willow Springs Scholarship Club will give $30,000 in scholarships to graduates of Willow Spring High School!

If you are planning to continue your education after high school we encourage you to apply for one of these scholarships. SCHOLARSHIPS CAN BE USED FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINING OR AT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.

There will be two types of scholarships given. One kind will be $3000 scholarships for tuition only, the other $500 scholarships for textbooks and required course materials.

There will also be two kinds of applications:

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION: If you complete this application you will be applying for the WSSC $3000 tuition scholarship, the $500 WSSC textbook scholarship, and other scholarships offered in the community. You will only need to complete one application.

WSSC TEXTBOOK SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION: This application is ONLY for the WSSC Textbook Scholarship of $500.

Application can be made through your high school counselor’s office. Mrs. Petrus will have additional information about the scholarships. The scholarship applications will be available on the school counselor’s web site. COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE COUNSELOR’S OFFICE BY APRIL 1, 2010. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

The Willow Springs Scholarship Club uses a “blind process” when considering applications. Your name, picture and identifying information will be removed from your application. Your application will present a picture of you as a student and an individual. You must convince the Selection Committee you are deserving of a scholarship. The Selection Committee considers academic performance, citizenship, leadership, civic involvement, and other scholarships.

The $3000 Tuition Scholarships will be presented at the Annual Willow Springs High School Alumni Banquet on May 29, 2010. $3000 Scholarship winners are expected to attend the banquet to receive their scholarship.

Funds for the scholarships come from WSHS Alumni, individuals, businesses, and civic groups in the community. The scholarships are our way of telling you we think your education is important!
