The purpose of the Willow Springs Scholarship Club is to encourage WSHS students to continue their education after high school. Since 1976 WSSC has given $330,650 in scholarships to 236 WSHS graduates. Funding for the scholarships comes from membership, gifts, memorials, and business and community sponsors.

2011 Scholarship Requirements


This year the Scholarship Club will give $30,500 in scholarships for tuition and textbook assistance.  Students attending A+ schools and the College of the Ozarks will be eligible to apply for a Textbook Scholarship, but not a tuition scholarship.   Students who receive a 2011-12 Tuition Scholarship will be eligible to apply for the 2012-13 continuing study scholarship of $3000 (1 will be awarded).  Students who receive a Textbook Scholarship and attend an A+ school will be eligible to apply for the continuing study scholarship of $3000 (1 awarded) when they complete their Associate Degree or equivalent and enroll in a four year school. Listed below are the requirements for each type of scholarship.

Requirements for the $3000 tuition only scholarships

  • Must be a 2011 graduate of Willow Springs High School.
  • Scholarship can only be used for tuition. If the student’s tuition is paid under the A+ program or other tuition paid program, the student will not be eligible for a scholarship. All other WSHS 2011 graduates planning to attend a college, university, or vocational school are encouraged to apply for a scholarship.
  • Selection for a scholarship is based upon academic performance, citizenship, leadership, civic involvement and other scholarships. A Selection Committee, made up of members of the Scholarship Club, selects the scholarship recipients.
  • Applicants should complete the 2011 General Scholarship Application Form when it is available on the High School Web Site. This application will also be an application for a Textbook Scholarship.
  • Completed applications must be submitted to Sharon Petrus, High School Counselor, by April 1, 2011. Late applications will not be accepted.
  • The Scholarship will be paid to the student’s account at the institution where they are enrolled.
  • The scholarship is good for the 2011-12 academic year at the student’s chosen accredited institution (vocational school, college or university). The scholarship can be used in any field of study.
  • Scholarships will be awarded at the Willow Springs High School Alumni Banquet, May 28, 2011. The $3000 Scholarship winners are expected to attend the banquet.

Requirements for the $500 WSSC Educators’ Textbook Scholarships

  • Must be a 2011 graduate of Willow Springs High School.
  • The Scholarships can be used only for textbooks and required course materials. The Scholarship will be paid to the student’s account at the institution where they are enrolled.
  • Students receiving a $3000 Tuition scholarship will not be eligible for a Textbook Scholarship
